We have been living in a log cabin in a place called the Cariboo for the last two weeks. It is a 6 hour drive north from Vancouver.

Walking to a frozen waterfall
We drove 1 hour from our cabin to visit a waterfall. It was a snowy walk but it was very nice. Suddenly we saw water in the distance. It was a half frozen waterfall with icicles surrounding it! Half an hour later we walked back to our car and drove home.

My brother Finn and me looking at the frozen waterfall Learning to ice skate Most towns in Canada have ice skating rinks. One day we went looking for an ice skating rink near us. Soon we found one. It was pretty big! I got second hand Bauer skates. I've ben practising and now I don't even need the plastic block.
Backyard snow jumps and ice hockey When we first got here we saw a little hill in our backyard, so we made a ski jump. I learnt to do jumps, power stops and backwards skiing. This was good practice to ski on an actual ski hill. My brother and I also play hockey when the driveway is icy.

Playing ice hockey on our frozen driveway Cool driving roads The roads here have snow on each side and mountains all around. Sometimes we have to put the ford in to 4W4 to get down a road. My dad lets me drive our truck up the driveway. It is really fun.

We drink lots of hot chocolate and eat lots of porridge to stay warm. Sometimes my mum makes us waffles for a treat.

Waffles on a cold day. Yum!
This week we are moving to a new place. I will really miss our log cabin here.

Well done on progressing so quickly with your skating, Arlo! The interesting thing is that it helps with all sorts of other sports and hobbies. Same with skiing. You might find that you find things like skateboarding or surfing when the weather warms up quite easy to pick up and master.
Also, you have to try President's Choice Belgian Waffles. You can buy them from stores like No Frills, Loblaws and even Shoppers Drug Mart. They come in a plastic wrapped container and are so so so yum.
Epic writing Arlo! You're making me wish I was back home! Bauer skates are the best so you definitely made a good choice there.
Here's a challenge for the next time you go skating. Start skating at one end of the rink and get going as fast as you can, when you're ready lay flat on your tummy and see how far you can slide... It's called a superman slide. Good luck!
What a wonderful family adventure you are having. I can see why you will miss your special little log cabin in the Cariboo ………. ♥️
I so loved reading this. Well done Arlo 👍🏻
